Amit Kapur co-founds talent platform with former Google executive Tim Armstrong

New York; February 2019. Amit Kapur is joining Tim Armstrong to co-found a Santa Monica, California based online talent platform. Earlier Kapur was the chief operating officer of MySpace and sold his advertising technology start-up Gravity to AOL.

Tim Armstrong served as the Chief Executive Officer of Oath Inc. (formerly AOL Inc.) since April 7, 2009 and served as its President until October 1, 2018. 

“We are launching operating companies in Soho NYC and Santa Monica CA,” Armstrong says on his blog. “In Santa Monica, we are co-founding and funding a company with one of our favorite entrepreneurs, Amit Kapur, who is building a talent platform to help unlock human potential around the world.” .

Kapur got a degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford. He went to Huron public school in a small town in South Dakota. His parents emigrated from India.

Kapur, on his LinkedIn profile, describes himself as “a tech entrepreneur and investor in LA. I love building companies and tackling big problems.

“- As COO of MySpace, I helped build the world’s pioneering social network. We broke a lot of new ground and became the most trafficked site on the internet. I helped drive the company to become a profitable global business with $1B in revenue.

”- I left Myspace to found Gravity, a pioneer in data science and personalization AI. We personalized over 300K websites, including some of the biggest like Yahoo and AOL. Gravity was acquired by AOL, where I led their publisher platform.

”- I have a knack for building extraordinary teams. And I believe extremely smart, diverse, positive people are by far a company’s greatest asset.

”- My parents immigrated to the US, and I was born and raised in a small farm town in South Dakota. “
